ONLY POLITICIANS WITH LESS ELECTORAL VALUE FIGHT OVER UNEXISTING ZONING SYSTEM, SAYS APC CHIEFTAIN

As 2015 general elections draw closer, politicians seeking support from the electorates have been advised to pursue their interests with issue-based campaigns, by unveiling their workable manifesto to the people or showcasing their commitment towards the betterment of the electorates, as against relying on affirmative action disguised as non-existing zoning arrangement.

A chieftain of the All progressives Congress, APC and the Traditional Prime Minister of Umualumoke autonomous community in Okigwe local government area, Chief Patrick Mbanusi, who stated this recently while fielding questions from news men, maintained that it was against the tenets of democratic culture for contestable political offices to be freely allocated to those he described as ‘arm –chair politicians’ on a purported zoning nomenclature.
Chief Mbanusi, challenged aspiring politicians to embrace the competitiveness of democratic culture by coming clean, as well as marketing themselves properly before their people, adding that only woman or politicians with little or no electoral value always harp on affirmative action or unexisting zoning system to favour their aspirations.
He averred that as a young and formidable political platform, the All Progressives Congress, APC, believes in delivering credible candidates who according to him understands the immediate pulse of the people, and ensures that the needed democratic dividends are delivered to the people in line with the principles and policies of the party’s manifesto.
On the Senatorial seat of the zone which according to him has been the reduced to zoning campaign by some aspirants, the party chieftain clarified that even if such mechanism should be adopted, local government areas such as: Ihitte –Uboma, Onuimo and Okigwe should be considered, as Obowo, Isiala Mbano and Ehime Mbano council areas have had their turns.
He insisted that the dreams and aspirations of all Okigwe zonal people are one, as the people are ever united over politics of development which attracts dividends of democracy to them and will no longer be deceived by politicians with clannish tendencies who are only interested in acquisition of political power through divisive means.
He called on the electorate in the zone to reject those he described as ‘ zoning propagandist and money bag’ Politicians, whom he said have collectively mortgaged the future of Okigwe zone for years, as no meaningful project could be said to have been attracted by them for decades.
Chief Mbanusi however, acknowledged the doggedness of the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Benjamin Uwajumogu, in ensuring that Okigwe senatorial zone was not left out in the ongoing Rescue Mission of the Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s government, pointing out that with the total support from the sons and daughters from the zone, the Speaker was ever ready to surpass his
